Should a reader get a heads up that it's there to help with the navigation of the story? This for those who never ever sneak a peak at the last chapter of a book before they buy it.

Once you put in a Glossary,or a 'family tree' type breakdown.. does it restrict an author to the rules she's established? Is that why not many use them? And of those that do..are they always plotters and not panzers...

So, that means you are an elite plotter? I say that because all that research and establishing how what is going to go where in your world building, you MUST have an extremely organized spreadsheet.

If you have Beta readers, do they have access to all the wherefores to catch any slip ups? How challenging that must be!

I think anyone who world builds a rich and varied environment is purely a genius. No other way around it.Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08573730655117969888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5524866668419203645.post-43359106265100506752009-06-02T14:51:31.342-03:002009-06-02T14:51:31.342-03:00Hi there, Chris,

I used to have this pathetic sketch of my world, too, until the fabulous and amazing Megan Kissinger constructed a real map for me. A black and white version is in the front of the book and a color version is "screened back" on the back cover. And it's my screensaver...

And I do confuse myself with Lorendell and Lenordell. There's this legend from my world's past of a prince from the Southlands who rescued a slave girl (Tiatha), took her home and married her. Sounds romantic, right? Not so much. Half the people were bigots who thought royalty shouldn't marry a slave so this big ol' civil war started some years into their future. By then, a pair of princesses had been born - Lorena and Lenora. When the lesser goddess Katherine Fair stepped in to stop the civil war, she caused an earthquake to separate the land. Lorena was on the southern parcel of land that became Lorendell. Lenora was on the northern edge that remained on the continent and became Lenordell. But I can't remember which is the island when I'm writing because I'm insane, so I have a post-it note dangling from tape from my computer screen that says "Lorens on the island."

:)

Now aren't you sorry you asked?
Thank you for stopping in today!
Sandy Lender
"Some days, I just want the dragon to win."Sandy Lenderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16199084967927013025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5524866668419203645.post-15075404282346889742009-06-02T14:48:04.210-03:002009-06-02T14:48:04.210-03:00This comment has been removed by the author.Sandy Lenderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16199084967927013025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5524866668419203645.post-51955592032540244142009-06-02T14:39:06.810-03:002009-06-02T14:39:06.810-03:00Thank you, Stella!
