#B2BCYCON2018 Preview

I'm posting today with a quick preview of an upcoming event I'm a part of, the Brain to Books Cyber Convention and Book Expo (B2BCYCON for short). The convention happens in April (from the 6th to the 8th) and basically it is an online showcase for authors of various genres. I'll be doing double duty as a fantasy author and a horror author, and here's what to expect from me.

I will be running my horror activities from this blog, and you will be able to check out my stuff such as the website/blog tour and links to my horror related Cover Wars, the Character Tournament, the Daisy Chain story, my horror Trade Show Booth on Goodreads and the Book Expo. There will also be a video panel discussion that I hosted, Gender Roles in the Horror and Thriller Genres. The book featured in my horror events will be Horror Haiku Pas de Deux, so please come out and have some fun in all the events.

B2BCyCon2018-FantasyI'll be over on my website, Welcome to Avalon,  for my convention fantasy events and activities, including the fantasy genre blog/website tour. As well, I'll be posting the links to my other fantasy activities in the convention, again such as the Cover Wars, the Character Tournament, Panel Discussions, the Daisy Chain story, my Trade Show Booth on Goodreads and the Book Expo links. The book I have featured in the convention is Ghosts of the Sea Moon, so I hope you will come out in April to support it in the voting events (Cover Wars and Character Tournaments) and come watch me be dorky in things like the video panel discussions.

So remember, on the April 6th-8th weekend, the place to be for books is the Brains to Books Cyber Convention and Book Expo.

Fairy Tale Fusion Launches Today!

Today's the day for the official launch of my new book Fairy Tale Fusion, and there's a big celebration going on over at Facebook this afternoon at 4 PM Atlantic Time (that's 3 PM Eastern) until 7 PM Atlantic (6 PM Eastern). There will be trivia questions, chatting, and free swag, plus I may even bring some virtual chocolate, and peppermint daiquiris.

It all happens here: https://www.facebook.com/events/446300328811870/449328735175696/

And don't worry if you can't make it because the dark fairies are heading to this very blog tomorrow, Oct 24th, for the start of Coffin Hop 2013. Yes, that's right it's that time of year again, when Halloween starts early. So, please join me until Halloween for Dark Magic, Creepy Creatures, and the Seelie Court...

Oh, and did I mention there will be contests with lots of free stuff.

Fairy Tale Fusion

What if the characters in Fairy Tales were real? What if they lived in Fairyland, a place not too dissimilar to ours, next to Wonderland and down the street from Camelot?
Come follow the exploits of Detective Piper of the Fairyland Metro Police, the Fairy Tale News updates and more cracked characters taken from the world of childhood.

When you are done dancing with Cinderella and her cronies, open the lid of a very scary toy box to find where children’s nightmares begin... and end, badly.

A Trip to the Time Traveller's Reunion-Part Two

A Trip to the Time Traveller's Reunion-Part Two

As promised, here’s the next thrilling installment of my steampunk adventures at the Time Traveller’s Reunion.

My first stop upon arrival was the vendor building, located in Sherbrooke Village’s Temperance Hall, to set up my book table for Mechanized Masterpieces. That room fairly burst with a wonderful eclectic mix of artisans and merchants with an astounding spectacle of Victorian style clothing, steampunk jewelry, leather goods, crafts and contraptions.
A Steampunk Wii Remote

Exhibits ranged from The Monkey’s Paw Curio Shop, with its delightful array of trinkets and gewgaws, to The Graces’ Attar Natural Perfumery (where I bought some Airship Pirate Soap), the Tandy Leather Factory, and the Steampunk Montreal table with an amazing presentation of steamed-up gadgets, just to name a few.

Most of my Saturday was spent in the vendor room, though I did venture out for my Q and A in the afternoon, where I sat in the Village Courthouse and answered questions from my eager public.

In the early hours of the evening, everyone sauntered down to the What Cheer Tea Room for a delicious supper (and I highly recommend their desserts, so tasty). To end Saturday evening there was an entertaining cabaret, featuring the talented band, Eli August and The Abandoned Buildings and a showing of short movies from the Silent Film Era.

So ends today's installment of my steampunk adventures. Come back tomorrow for more on the workshops and Sherbrooke Village.

A Trip to the Time Traveller's Reunion-Part One

A Trip to the Time Traveller's Reunion-Part One

This past weekend I took a steampunk step back in time when I attended the Time Traveller's Reunion in historic Sherbrooke Village, Nova Scotia.  The event was a wondrous Victorian occasion, organized by the Jules Verne Phantastical Society and the Sherbrooke Village officials. I was kindly invited to be a guest speaker in my capacity as one of the authors in the book, Mechanized Masterpieces: A Steampunk Anthology.

The event location, Sherbrooke Village, is nestled in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, and is a museum town of living history, depicting a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-WW1. It has, among many fascinating buildings, a working woodturner shop, blacksmith, pottery shop, and printery. And this past weekend of June 15th-16th, it hosted a barrage of ever-so elegant steampunk enthusiasts.

The weekend was a grand affair, a fashionable, mechanical (steam-powered of course) and highly Victorian
celebration, with workshops, vendors, musicians, and strange contraptions. An impressive array of costuming and other steampunk paraphernalia was on display, as well as the entertaining workshops and guests, some evening cinema on Saturday, and even Garden Party with music and cucumber sandwiches to end out Sunday. For two days, the parasols twirled, gentlemen tipped their hats, and marvellous inventors demonstrated their amazing gadgets.

I’ll be discussing everything (including my guest appearances) in more detail, in A Trip to the Time Traveller's Reunion-Part Two. So stroll back tomorrow, if you please for more delights and wonders.
